Frequently asked questions

Honestly, most clients are surprised by how normal hypnosis feels.
Many people expect hypnosis to feel dramatically different from everyday awareness, but for most people it feels more like being deeply relaxed, focused, and absorbed in the experience.
You might notice that your body feels very relaxed while your mind remains aware of what’s happening. Some people compare it to getting lost in a good book, being absorbed in a movie, or that feeling right before falling asleep when you’re deeply relaxed but still aware.
Everyone experiences hypnosis a little differently, and there isn’t one “right” way to experience it. The most important thing to know is that you remain aware throughout the process.
-
This is probably one of the most common questions I get, and the short answer is no.
Most of what people think hypnosis looks like comes from movies or stage hypnosis shows. In reality, hypnosis is a collaborative process.
You’ll be able to hear me, you’ll know what’s happening, and you’ll always have the ability to ask questions, shift your attention, or stop the process if you choose.
I often tell clients that hypnosis isn’t something I do to you. It’s something we do together. You are never giving up control of your mind or your choices.
-
Most people can experience hypnosis to some degree as long as they are willing to participate and are open to the process.
In fact, hypnosis is a very natural state that people move in and out of every day. If you’ve ever become completely absorbed in a movie, driven somewhere and realized you don’t remember every turn, or gotten lost in thought while reading a book, you’ve already experienced something similar.
You don’t have to be “good” at hypnosis for it to be effective. My job is to guide the process and help you find what works best for you.
-
That’s completely normal.
Many of the women I work with come to me because they struggle with overthinking. They often assume they won’t be able to relax enough for hypnosis to work.
The truth is, your mind doesn’t have to be completely quiet.
Thoughts may come and go during a session, and that’s okay. Hypnosis isn’t about forcing your mind to be blank. It’s about helping you become more focused and receptive while allowing your thoughts to naturally settle into the background.
-
Most people remember the majority of their session.
Some clients feel deeply relaxed and may lose track of time or remember certain parts more clearly than others, but hypnosis is not the same as being unconscious or asleep.
For most people, the experience feels more like a deeply focused conversation with periods of relaxation and guided imagery.
-
This is actually one of the main reasons I created The Reset Remedy.
Many of the women I work with have already spent years investing in themselves. They’ve gone to therapy, read the books, listened to the podcasts, and developed a great deal of self-awareness.
In fact, many of them understand exactly why they feel the way they do.
What they often tell me is: “I understand it, but I still feel stuck.”
Hypnosis offers a different approach.
Rather than focusing primarily on insight and understanding, hypnosis allows us to work more directly with subconscious patterns, beliefs, habits, and emotional responses that may be contributing to the issue.
For many people, it’s the missing piece that helps bridge the gap between understanding a pattern and actually creating change.
I also want to be clear that I don’t see therapy and hypnosis as competing approaches. In many cases, they work beautifully together.
Therapy can provide a space to process emotions, gain insight, heal past wounds, and develop coping skills. Hypnosis can help reinforce those changes by working with the subconscious patterns and automatic responses that may continue to show up in daily life.
Many of my clients continue working with their therapist while participating in hypnosis, and often find that the two approaches complement each other very well.
-
We always start with a conversation.
We’ll talk about what’s been going on, what patterns you’re noticing, what you’d like to change, and what you hope to get out of our work together.
From there, I’ll guide you into a relaxed and focused state where we’ll begin working with the subconscious patterns connected to your goals.
Every session is tailored to the individual, so no two sessions look exactly the same.
Most clients leave feeling calmer, lighter, and with a greater sense of clarity than when they arrived.
-
That is completely okay.
Sometimes emotions come up during hypnosis, and sometimes they don’t. Everyone’s experience is different.
If emotions do arise, we’ll simply work with them in a supportive and respectful way. You will never be forced to revisit anything you’re not comfortable exploring.
My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you can move at a pace that feels right for you.
-
There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer to that question.
Some clients notice meaningful shifts after a single session, while others benefit from multiple sessions depending on their goals and the patterns they’re working on.
During your consultation, we’ll talk about what you’re hoping to change and discuss what approach might make the most sense for your situation.
-
Yes.
Many of my clients choose to work with me virtually from the comfort of their own home.
As long as you have a quiet space where you can relax without interruptions, virtual hypnosis can be just as effective as in-person sessions for many concerns.
I offer both virtual and in-person sessions in San Antonio.
-
Yes.
Hypnosis is generally considered safe when practiced by a properly trained professional.
One of the biggest myths about hypnosis is that someone might get “stuck” in hypnosis or lose control. That’s simply not how hypnosis works.
You remain aware throughout the process, and you can shift your attention or end the experience at any time.
-
No.
Services provided through The Reset Remedy are not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure medical or mental health conditions.
If you are experiencing medical or mental health concerns, it is important to work with an appropriate licensed medical or mental health professional for diagnosis and treatment.
Hypnosis may help support symptom management related to stress, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, confidence, habits, sleep, and other behavioral patterns, but it is not a replacement for medical or mental health care.
-
Absolutely.
Many of my clients participate in therapy while also working with me.
In fact, therapy and hypnosis often complement each other very well. Therapy can help create insight, process emotions, and develop coping skills, while hypnosis can help address the subconscious patterns and automatic responses that may be keeping someone stuck.
Because everyone’s needs are different, I may also recommend additional support or outside referrals when appropriate.
-
No. Although I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, The Reset Remedy LLC is a separate business that provides hypnosis and coaching services rather than psychotherapy.
To maintain clear professional boundaries and avoid dual relationships, I do not provide psychotherapy through It’s Life Counseling and Wellness PLLC while also providing hypnosis or coaching services through The Reset Remedy LLC to the same person.
If you are a therapy client, hypnosis-informed interventions may be incorporated into counseling when clinically appropriate and within the scope of psychotherapy. However, this is different from receiving hypnosis or coaching services through The Reset Remedy LLC.
If you are unsure which service is the best fit for your needs, we can discuss your goals and determine the most appropriate option. If I believe therapy, medical care, or another level of support would better serve your needs, I will help connect you with appropriate resources.
How do I get started?
The first step is scheduling a free 20-minute consultation.
We’ll talk about what’s been going on, what you’re hoping to change, and whether this feels like a good fit for your goals.
If it feels like the right next step, we’ll schedule your first session and create a plan that is tailored to your needs.
